From art exhibits and parades to 15-foot inflatable condom installations and free testing events, activations around the world reinforced the message of safer sex in fun and impactful ways.

Founded by AHF in 2009 and observed annually on Feb. 13, ICD highlights the importance of condoms as the most cost-effective method for preventing HIV, other STIs, and unplanned pregnancies.

Wellness Center Expansion

AHF stepped up efforts to combat rising rates of sexually transmitted infections—especially syphilis—by expanding its network to nearly 100 Wellness Centers, including 19 new locations globally, providing free, inclusive services to all.

AHF Wellness Centers are tailored to each community and work to reach those most in need of sexual health support through grassroots outreach and creative marketing strategies that connect with key at-risk populations.

Last year, we introduced our I Am AHF series, a recurring feature that spotlights remarkable staff, clients, and partners working each day to create a better tomorrow. Throughout the year, the segment highlighted nearly 30 people, shining a light on their dedication, impact, and passion.

Delivering Hope after Disaster

In 2025, AHF teams provided critical support to communities affected by disasters worldwide. In Southern California, wildfire evacuees and first responders received nearly 60,000 meals, clothing, emergency supplies, and weekly farmers markets for families in need.

Following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in March, more than 2,000 families in Myanmar were supplied with food and essential health items. After Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica in October, AHF mobilized generators, water purification tablets, medical equipment, food kits, and other essentials to reach those most in need.

Advancing Equity in Global Health

AHF maintained a strong presence at major regional and global conferences to elevate community voices and advance equity-driven public health solutions.

At forums including the Civil Society 20, the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa, and the International AIDS Society Conference, AHF leaders convened discussions, shared research, and engaged policymakers on client-centered, prevention-first HIV and STI care. Across these platforms, AHF advocated for sustainable health financing, stigma-free services, and community-led solutions to strengthen the global HIV response.

At the same time, AHF’s Global Public Health Institute advocated for meaningful reforms to address inequities in the proposed Pandemic Agreement, with a particular focus on strengthening equity within the Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing system through webinars and participation in Pandemic Agreement negotiations. The Institute also hosted a separate discussion examining the future of HIV/AIDS care to advance global retention in treatment.

Global Public Health Revolution Podcast

AHF launched The Global Public Health Revolution podcast. Hosted by Kemi Gbadamosi, the series features thought-provoking conversations with leaders, advocates, and changemakers on topics from condoms and creative health campaigns to men’s health and reimagining global health systems.

Connecting to Care

In 2025, AHF teams connected key populations and individuals who had fallen out of care to essential services through creative, community-driven strategies. From Africa’s Community Power Voices initiative and partnerships with boda boda riders (local motorcycle taxi drivers) to patient-centered approaches such as tele-counseling, home visits, and transportation support, teams worked across regions to reduce stigma, reach at-risk populations, and re-engage clients in lifesaving care.

One of the year’s most moving stories was told through a short documentary following Franklin and Fedson, two Haitian brothers whose fight for survival became a story of hope.

Challenging Barriers to Life-Saving Care

AHF led a Latin America–focused regional advocacy campaign alongside Public Citizen GHP, Kirimina, and other civil society organizations, challenging Gilead Sciences’ greed and demanding fair pricing for the long-acting HIV prevention injection, lenacapavir.

Through press conferences, coordinated social media actions, and regional webinars, the campaign mobilized hundreds of advocates and more than 170 organizations.

Youth at the Frontlines of Prevention

Throughout the year, AHF prioritized youth-centered programming to close persistent gaps in HIV prevention, education, and care. Across multiple countries, teams led interactive sexual health and wellness campaigns in schools and communities, combining education with sports, dialogue, and peer engagement to reach adolescents in accessible, stigma-free ways.

Through initiatives like the Boys2Men program, Youth Bonanzas, Child Protection Week advocacy, and youth-led forums, AHF empowered young people with accurate information and tools to protect their health. From Sub-Saharan Africa to Southeast Asia, youth led advocacy efforts with media and governments to demand stronger prevention education and a role in shaping HIV and STI responses.

World AIDS Day

On World AIDS Day, nearly 50 AHF country teams mobilized across the globe to honor lives lost, celebrate progress, and renew the call for action in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Communities came together through advocacy, free testing and prevention services, and powerful acts of remembrance, while World AIDS Day concerts in Mexico, Zambia, and Vietnam reached tens of thousands with a unified message of equity and access. From government engagement and peer-led interventions to youth education and stigma reduction, the day underscored a shared global truth: HIV/AIDS is not over.
