AHF Builds Global Pressure on the European Union

“No Equity, No Deal” | Protest Targets EU Over Pandemic Agreement

Click above to see AHF and partners in action at a protest outside the European Commission Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

AHF teams around the world raised their voices to urge European Union (EU) leaders to stand with the Global South in supporting fair and transparent rules during negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing (PABS) Annex.

Through coordinated press conferences, published articles, meetings with embassies and parliamentarians, and widespread social media engagement, advocates worked to push for stronger commitments to equitable health access in future pandemic responses.

In addition to embassy visits, AHF Mexico partnered with AHF’s Global Public Health Institute for a press conference to raise awareness.

The PABS Annex, a key component of the broader pandemic agreement, was designed to establish how pathogen samples and data are shared and how resulting benefits—such as vaccines, diagnostics, and treatments—are distributed.

Throughout the negotiations, AHF and collaborating partners emphasized the importance of binding provisions to ensure that lifesaving tools are shared fairly, particularly with lower-income countries.

AHF Peru mobilized communities and engaged European embassies to demand binding rules in the PABS Annex.

During a press conference, AHF Zambia called for a strong PABS annex to ensure Africa is not left behind in global health responses.

Queen Latifah Powers Florida AIDS Walk & Music Festival

Relive the energy! Watch the Florida AIDS Walk & Music Festival 2026 recap above.

With a headlining performance by Queen Latifah, the annual Florida AIDS Walk & Music Festival (FAW), sponsored by AHF Pharmacy, drew thousands to Fort Lauderdale Beach on March 21, raising nearly $3 million for local nonprofit AIDS service organizations.

Participants took part in the 5k walk, followed by a high-energy music festival where award-winning and Oscar-nominated musician, actress, and entrepreneur Queen Latifah. She first partnered with AHF in 2016 at the Keep the Promise Concert and March in Durban, South Africa, and returned this year with that same passion, delivering a powerful performance to close out the day.

“I am thrilled to continue to lend my voice in the on-going fight against HIV/AIDS.  We all must continue to raise our voice and funds to keep awareness and prevention services accessible for all,” stated Queen Latifah.

“We are honored to have Queen Latifah join us again and lend her star power to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS,” said Tracy Jones, AHF Southern Bureau Chief. “Now more than ever, we need to make sure the service organizations tending to our most at-risk populations have the support they need to keep up the fight against HIV and AIDS. While we have made progress since Florida AIDS Walk started over two decades ago, South Florida continues to see disproportionately high incidents of new HIV diagnoses. The money we raise through FAW helps people get educated, get tested, get into care, and stay in care.”

New Episode Out Now: Listen In!

In this episode, host Kemi Gbadamosi sits down with Sangeeta Shashikant of the Third World Network to unpack the high-stakes negotiations around the pathogen access and benefit sharing annex, a key part of the global pandemic agreement adopted in 2025. They break down why this system matters for the future of pandemic preparedness, how pathogen samples and genetic data help develop vaccines and treatments, and why developing countries are demanding fair benefit sharing in return.
